EPA is working with Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water Corporation (GWMWater) to check if the groundwater has been affected.

We are monitoring groundwater on the property, and on neighbouring properties.

Our tests show no sign of groundwater contamination from the illegally dumped waste.

GWMWater supplies the township of Kaniva with water via four groundwater bores.  GWMWater undertakes general bore monitoring fortnightly. They have produced a fact sheet covering Kaniva's groundwater supply. 

We have conducted soil sampling on the site, and tested for surface level vapours in areas where we suspect waste has been buried.

There is no risk from chemical vapours in the area.
