In accordance with the industrial waste management policy (Prescribed Industrial Waste), EPA Victoria has classified soils contaminated with:• total petroleum hydrocarbons; • monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; • organochlorine compounds; and• polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons,as wastes for which reuse, recycling, recovery of energy and treatment opportunities will be available in the foreseeable future. This information bulletin outlines the classification and discusses the management of contaminated soil in general.
