Noise levels from traffic on Francis Street Yarraville was monitored during July to August 2001. The results indicate that the levels of road traffic noise are typically higher than the range of noise objectives for other States in Australia. Francis Street has a high proportion of truck traffic which contributes to the noise levels. The monitoring suggests that action should be taken to reduce the levels of road traffic noise. The results provide a basis for assessing any action (eg. traffic management) taken over time to reduce the road traffic noise.
