- Background of offence
Planet Safe Timber Pty Ltd, a sawmilling company trading as ‘CCA Pine’ in Kilsyth, were found guilty of unlawfully receiving construction and demolition waste on or around 17 December 2021. Some asbestos was confirmed at the site. The Authority issued an EAN requiring that the site be cleaned up, which Planet Safe complied with near the end of April 2022. It cost Planet Safe in excess of $1,600,000 to remove the approximately 8,100m3 of waste. Planet Safe entered an early guilty plea, and was otherwise of ‘good character’.
