Testing has confirmed that a sample collected from Seabrook Reserve, Broadmeadows in the Hume City Council area on Friday, 19 April is positive for asbestos-containing material.  Further assessments and investigations are underway by EPA and council.

Following a report from the public, this afternoon EPA officers collected a piece of potential asbestos-containing material from a garden in Dendy Park, Brighton which has been sent for priority testing.

If testing confirms the sample is asbestos containing material, the source of the contamination will be investigated.  However, the size and position of the fragment indicates it is not due to contamination in mulch laid at the site.

EPA continues to respond to reports and inquiries about asbestos from the community.

Hobsons Bay City Council will continue to work to reopen parks in the coming weeks as Clearance Certificates are issued by independent hygienists.
