A Laverton North company that failed to contain wastewaters from its concrete batching business has been fined nearly $10,000 by EPA Victoria.

On 9 July, 2024 EPA officers attended Aerolink Property Corporations’ business on Holcourt Rd, Laverton North. The company trades there as Midway Concreting.

The officers estimate more than 1,000 litres of wastewater had escaped the facility and the cause was directly linked to the onsite management.

“We only want to see rainwater going down our stormwater drains, but video evidence clearly shows a large volume of wastewater washing out of the driveway and down the road to drain inlets,” said EPA West Metropolitan Regional Manager Steve Lansdell.

“That water will drain into our creeks and waterways causing a pollution risk. It’s everyone’s business to act to prevent pollution but this was not happening at Holcourt Rd, so a fine of $9,880 is appropriate.”
